Reaching The Shore

While swimming through a sea of group assignments, final reports, and exam preparations, my anxiety as well as my lack of confidence in my own ability to survive the semester were like high waves. Pulling me with them, often time breaking my momentum to keep going, leaving me lost at sea. During those moments, the thought of summer break was akin to a lifeline thrown my way, that I hold on to and let it guide me to security, giving me motivation to keep working hard.

Then, summer break arrived and with it, my chance to spend time and catch up with dear friends that I haven't seen for a while. The planning wasn't easy, time and cost-wise, but sitting down with them, exchanging stories of new experiences and struggles we went through, the sense of belonging and comfort that comes with it makes it all worth it.

I have come to a realization that so many things have changed, and in the first place we aren't all the same in terms of personality and interest, and yet, some things stay the same.

Like how we all somehow ended up in a bookstore by the end of the day, browsing books catering to our respective interest, a scene so familiar in a completely different time and place.

Walking by their side as we browse around window shopping, I can't help but feel at peace. The fact that I'm here spending my summer with them, the semester all wrapped up is a testament in itself, that my endurance and potential is perhaps, greater than I had thought. I also think that perhaps, I'm not alone in my feelings, and that there are others out there doubting themselves as well.

To those who doubt themselves, let's keep working hard and best belief that at the end of day, beautiful things are waiting for you at the shore.
